Regarding Joe Balog's article on forward-facing sonar, I stand with him and Hank Parker. Between land developers and computer geeks, I am infuriated to the Nth degree. Why can't people just leave well enough alone? I still have a working 1985 Lowrance Flasher unit and plan on using it, until either I or it dies. Why keep complicating things? This nation is becoming to technologically dependent.

I saw an article about Carl Jocumsen's tournament kayak. So much for the beauty and simplicity of kayak fishing! Crazy! Multiple screens, FFS, 360, etc. I bet his kayak costs more than my 18-foot Ranger. Is this really bass fishing now? Not a knock on Carl, but this is ridiculous. How many can afford to enter kayak tournaments if this is now required to compete?

RE: Smack 'Em on Small Swimbaits – Some solid insights on downsizing swim baits/ boot-tail grubs, but there are a ton of brands of these soft plastics that will do the job. This article just read like an advertisement for Keitech.

RE: Watson's suspension – MLF is a joke and I am done with them!

RE: Watson's suspension – All the rules violations that have gone unpunished and Watson gets suspended for this? Good grief! Bad PR by MLF.

Listened to Dave Mercer and Davy Hite say on a podcast that the electronics companies are not influencing them and other B.A.S.S. officials is any way, shape or form. Then on LIVE during the Classic they said you should see the fantastic lunch spread that Hummigbird brought for us and the B.A.S.S. staff! LMAO. Politics at it’s finest!

RE: Balog on St. Johns recovery – Great article, Joe! The answer always lies with the people. Just a suggestion, but maybe T-shirt sales to help boost the cause? Keep up the fight.

Trying to follow REDCREST is like watching paint dry – 30-pound lead! lol Bring on the Bassmaster Classic, the real world championship.

  • David Harrison of Huntsville, AL writes:

RE: Guide's REDCREST insight – So by Joey's own admission, catching five big largemouths will not get you in the hunt since it is now a numbers game. What a shame that this is bass fishing now. Staring at a video screen try to catch more little spots than anyone else instead of hunting for big ones. Sad.

I’m looking at the Alabama Bass Trail (100). 3K entry and they only pay back 100K and 7th you just get your entry fee back! What happened to 80-90 percent paybacks? Are the fishermen that blessed with money are we just idiots?

  • Bill Crumrine of San Antonio, TX writes:

RE: VanDam, Henshall honored – The IGFA couldn't have done better in choosing these two individuals. While I am old school, I have Dr. Henshall's first book, Book of the Black Bass. Now I just need to purchase the second one.

  • John A. Argese of Taylors, SC writes:

FFS isn't bad when you're watching a split screen. I'll take it over bedding bass, which is a snoozefest.

RE: Balog on Wheeler – What a brilliant breakdown of the best angler on earth right now.

  • Darren L. Orr of Frazeysburg, OH writes:

B.A.S.S. won't even let you use a different boat each tournament, but will allow what is basically a live camera. B.A.S.s. even banned a specific lure?

  • Aaron Snatic of Elizabeth, LA writes:

RE: Swindle and FFS – Love this train of thought! The video about the couple was awesome as well.

  • Mark Richards of Houston, TX writes:

If you haven’t gone to YouTube and watched “David Dudley Crazy Catch”, you need to. There are certain iconic tourney fishing clips that come along like “Never give up” - add this one to the list. It’s the reason we tournament fish. Enjoy.

  • Chad Hill of Du Quoin, IL writes:

RE: Swindle and FFS – G-Man is right on point! FFS forces anglers to all fish the same way. There's no style. There's no variety. It's just a bunch of clones on the water. I understand why they use it, but it does take the fun out of fishing. It's fun to use in situations, but I would never do it every time I go fishing. That is why I don't fish tournaments anymore. I can't compete if I don't use it. That was a free decision I made. If FFS is allowed, the A-rig should be allowed as well!

  • Chance Huiet of Dayton, TN writes:

RE: New Duckett Fishing podcast – Please, for the love of God, NOBODY tune into this podcast. Can't we just get Boyd Duckett out of fishing already?

  • Maynard Logan of Fort Wayne, IN writes:

Solution to forward-facing sonar problem: B.A.S.S. needs to divide into two tournament series, with a 150-participant limit for each division (eight tournaments in each division). Division 1 - Forward-facing sonar only, no normal fishing allowed. Division 2 - Regular normal fishing that we all know and no FFS allowed, period.

I do not feel there would be a problem filling either division. This could, with some tweaking, solve most of the constant discussion.

  • Carl Rohrbaugh of Keyser, WV writes:

FFS should be banned altogether. I think it takes away fishermen's skill and makes it more electronic. Also, most fishermen at my level of income can't afford the technology and it's keeping us out if competition. Also makes these small lakes more pressured for the people fishing just for sport and enjoyment.
