USAngling has announced that the Zimbabwe National Bass Federation has formally invited a USA Bass High School Youth Team to attend and compete in the Inaugural Tri Nations Cup High School bass angling tournament hosted by Zimbabwe in December 2024. The tournament will include a youth team from the USA, Zimbabwe and South Africa.
The official tournament dates will be Dec. 9(Official Practice) through Dec. 12. The tour will also include a leisure day at a local Rhino & Elephant Rehabilitation, Safari and Conservancy.
The tournament will be held at the Mazvikadei Dam, the third largest in Zimbabwe. The dam provides water for farm irrigation and is also a popular recreation destination, primarily for bass angling and home to Florida-strain bass with common catches over 7 pounds.
Jason Uldrych from Orland Park, Ill. will coach of the USA squad. His son Nathan and best friend Adrius Stankus won the Shimano State Championship and are competing later this month for the National Championship.
“I’ve known (USAngling Freshwater Sports Director Mike McNett) for several years and he’s always talking about fishing World Championships," said Uldrych. "I never thought I would be coaching a USA Bass Youth Team. It’s an honor to represent the United States in a Tri Nations Tournament, especially in an Olympic year.”
